Description

On November 6 we had a 10-hour break in the clouds and I drove about 1 hour into the mountains known as the Coast Range near Eugene where I know of a nice "darker" sky spot.  During our fall and winter here in the valley I must chase any clear dark skies.  This trip worked out well.

This occasion was the first light for my recently acquired Tele Vue 127. Very low-lying clouds forced my target selection to be above 35 degrees.  I did a bit of visual observing and when I put the camera on I eventually settled on the Orion Nebula as the first target for my new rig.

Wow, what fun. The tightest best stars I have ever captured.  I shot 5,10,30,60, 120, 180 and 300-second subframes.  The 10-second set was a failure.  There was intense banding horizontally across that stacked set.  I did not use them.

Here is my November 2023 version of the Great Orion Nebula.

Televue 127 @ 660mm
Asi 533mc pro
AsiAir Pro controller
Radian Triad Ultra filter
iOptron CEM40 mount
An integration of 5, 30, 60, 120, 180, and 300 second subframes
Processed with Pixinsight and Photoshop
I like how this version turned out. Enjoy!
