Description

Bode's Galaxy is a grand design spiral galaxy about 12 million light-years from earth. It has a diameter of about 90,000 light-years and is in the constellation Ursa Major (The Great Bear).

Bode's Galaxy was discovered by Johann Elert Bode in 1774. It was added to the Messier Catalogue by Charles Messier in 1779.

Messier 82 (M82) - Cigar Galaxy

The Cigar Galaxy is a starburst galaxy, also about 12 million light-years from earth. M81 is about five times brighter than our Milky Way Galaxy and its core is about one hundred times brighter than ours.

Both are part of the M81 Group of galaxies in the constellations Ursa Major and Camelopardalis.

This an update from a few months ago where I planned to get some Ha data! I ended up going back and getting some Ha data plus a bunch more.
