Description

Messier 74 (also known as NGC 628 and Phantom Galaxy) is a large spiral galaxy in the constellation Pisces.  It is approximately  32 million light-years away from Earth. M74 contains two clearly defined spiral arms and is therefore often referenced as an example of a grand design spiral galaxy.

This shot comprises 3.5hrs of dual band data taken a year prior combined with 7hrs 20 minutes of broadband data collected this fall, for a total exposure time of just shy of 11hrs.
