With 6mins darkness before a 90%+ moon rose, and lots of cloud about, I decided I had nothing to lose and so tried a bit new and experimental for me.

I put my Rokinon 85mm lens onto my ZWO ASI2400 to give a 10deg field of view. Was all set with darks and flats by 10.30pm - ready for 50mins of twilight observing when my ZWO ASIAir stopped talking to my telescope mount.

After a few minutes of switching off and on, unplugging cables, I pulled out my hand controller and did things manually. I couldn't dither or auto guide, so the resultant image suffers from a few blemishes and I only managed 45minutes before the moon started to overwhelm things again. Packing up just after midnight. I trie one final unplug and system re-boot and - of course - it all started to work again. Oh well, there is always another night.

Given my first attempt at mount a camera lens on a ZWO camera, the conditions and the equipment (operator?) failure, its an OK image. And enough to make make come back again. The Rokinon lens shows up a fair bit of aberration at f/4 - worse than when used with the Canon body. I suspect this is the mounting.

Submitted The date and time when you submitted this image for IOTD/TP consideration.	...
Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
