Description

NGC 4565 is a mag 10.4 (visual) an edge-on spiral galaxy in Coma Berenices It is estimated at 30-50 million light years distance. It was discovered by William Herschel in 1785.

Processing information:

This image was taken with a prototype of an on-axis guider, which has a mirror that reflects the visual image light to the camera at a 90 degree angle, while allowing IR light to pass through to the inline guider. It works well and gives a very good FOV for the guide camera.

Processing: Image acquisition using CCD Autopilot. Initial processing was done using Maxim DL with subsequent processing with Photoshop.
