Description

While imaging the sun on Thursday, Feb 3, 2022, I noticed on a GONG capture a prominence near AR 2936 that was not seen earlier.  I began an animation sequence capture session that only lasted 12 minutes before clouds rolled in and covered the sun.  Apparently there was an explosive outburst from AR 2936 that projected past the limb forming a filaprom.  Unfortunately, I was only able to capture material falling back to the sun's surface and only for about 12 minutes.  I have a B&W version as the original version and a color version as a revision so you can view both versions.  AR 2936 has been the largest Active Region of the new Solar Cycle 25 and has been active in its passage across the sun.

The animation sequence consisted of 10 sec video captures with 15 sec delays between captures.  The video files were stacked in AutoStakkert 3, sharpened and aligned in ImPPG, and made into an animated GIF using PIPP.  The color was added in Photoshop.
