Description

Hello Friends,

again one of the tiny objects: NGC 6339. This is a galaxy of the type SBd in a distance of 100 Mly. Its diameter is 2.9' x 1.7'. Actually it has a diameter of 84,000  ly.
It contains a lot of neutral hydrogen, which was proven by radio astronomers. Interesting here: in the radio image  the galaxy is twice the size as visual. This is an indicator, that this galaxy was not interacting with other objects since it formed.

On AB I have found less than a dozen images. Of course (!) @Gary Imm  has imaged it . Lately inspired by @GalacticRAVE  I decided to go for this object too. The data was collected in seven nights (June till August)
Fun Fact: showing the draft image to my friend @Björn his dry comment was simply: "Well, not every galaxy is a Ms. Universe" Ok - got it!

Never the less, an interesting and very rare galaxy.

Please enjoy!
Rüdiger
