Description

The B33 Horsehead Nebula is a distinctive dark nebula in the Orion constellation, notable for its striking resemblance to a horse's head when viewed in silhouette. This nebula is located approximately 1,500 light-years from Earth and is a part of a larger cloud of dust and gas. The Horsehead Nebula's shape is primarily the result of thick dust blocking the light from the bright emission nebula, IC 434, which lies behind it.

It was discovered by Scottish astronomer Williamina Fleming in 1888 while working at the Harvard College Observatory.

The Horsehead Nebula is relatively small in size, spanning about 3-4 light-years across. It is composed of cold, dense gas and dust, forming a nursery where new stars are born. The nebula's darkness is punctuated by the occasional bright flecks of young stars peeking through the dense cloud. Its red glow is due to the ionization of hydrogen gas by the nearby bright star Sigma Orionis.

All images are bin 2 at -10°C.
I integrated the images in RGB and in Ha.
I like GraXpert, but it did a terrible job with this image, so after SPCC I used just a touch of DBE, then BlurXterminator.
Then I removed the stars, stretched everything with GHS and integrated the Ha channel with RGB using "NBRGB Combination script".
After some tweaking with GHS I added the RGB stars.
