Description

The sun thawed us out at around 2pm, during the vernal equinox at the Milwaukee Astronomical Society. The sun wasn't overly active today, but the prominance on the top was decently sized and may even be wrapping wrapping around the top and out of view behind the sun. This image is taken on a Lunt 80mm H-Alpha pressure tuned telescope with the Doppler True Tuning System, using my ASI 462mc Planetary Camera.

I don't often take solar images, so it's refreshing to have data to try out processing techniques. This helped me reappreciate Registax 6 wavelets processing more than I've utilized in the past. I'll need to remember to take a flat next time, focus a bit more precisely and capture prominence data separately from surface data so there's more processing flexibility to work with. But considering it's my first go at it in a very long time in okay seeing, dropping in to grab data on the fly, I like how it turned out.
