Description

The Bode Galaxy, (on the right, also known as M81) is a spiral galaxy located about 12 million light years from Earth, in the northern constellation Ursa Major.

It is estimated that M81 contains approximately 250 billion stars, it is therefore slightly smaller than our Milky Way.

The Cigar Galaxy (left, also known as M82) is a galaxy that is about 12 million light years and is an excellent example of a starburst galaxy: M82 undergoes the gravitational effects of its neighbor M81, these interactions have caused a strong increase in star formation phenomena.

The two galaxies are still separated by just 200.000 light years.
