Description

This was my first attempt at shooting Barnard's "E", or "Barnard's E" Nebula, which is a pair of dark nebulae in the Aquila constellation. It is a well-defined dark area situated with a background of Milky Way consisting of countless stars of all magnitudes, and get's it''s name from its resemblance to the letter E.

I chose this composition delibertly as I was curious to see if I could capture some nearby planetary nebula I've never previously imaged in the frame as well, so I positioned the E nebula off to the far left of the frame to leave room for the other nebula's I was hoping would also be revealed in the shot.  I also decided to shoot this using the Askar D1 Colour Magic dualband filter (Ha & Oiii) as again a way of hopefully better revealing the planetary nebulas as they often reveal well in those bands.

I have to say I was very pleased with how even at this scale,  PK047-04.1 and especially NGC6804, revealed some of their structural secrets!  (See mouse over with pop outs of the planetary')

I''ll definitely be adding both of these to my future target list to image at a greater FL/scale!
