Description

The Cat's Eye Nebula is a planetary nebula in the constellation of Draco, around 3000 light years away.  The central core of this object is incredibly bright and small in comparison to the outer shell of gases (10,000 times brighter in fact).  I attempted some short exposure RGB (2 seconds each) in an attempt to resolve some detail and then layered this into the main object. Not entirely satisfied with the outcome of that but pleased with the overall capture.  The faint fuzzy at the top of the image is barred spiral galaxy NGC 6552, which is some 360 million light years distant.
