Description

This time I was a good boy and did it thoroughly: over one hour integration (wow), darks, flats and bias, noise and star size reduction in Photoshop. However, the Ø77mm Kenko Astro LPR Type II filter is an interference type which does not cut but reflect unwanted waveforms causing reflections through the lenses onto the image sensor. Example left of Alnilam. Looks like a nebula but there ain't any at these coordinates. When using this filter on the Pleiades, all bright stars reflect comet-shape ghosts (Ø71mm/450mm APO). It is inherent to interference filters, expensive, ghostly and interfering images, but for fairness, it does block light pollution very well.

Correction: plate solving insists that the speck left of Alnilam is not a ghost, but IC 426. 😇
