Description

Here is a narrowband SHO image of Lower's nebula from the northern part of the Orion nebula.   This is another often overlooked part of Orion's nebula given the spectacular views of M42 to the south as well as the Barnard 33.     This isn't imaged nearly as often but it's another beautiful sight.   Lower's nebula is a magnitude 10 bright nebula approximately 2900 ly from our solar system and spans 30x15 arc minutes in size, or about 26 light years across.
I took the subs for this image at the 2023 Winter Star party but hadn't gotten around to posting it until now.     I shot this with a TEC140 scope with Astro Physics Field flattener on an Astro Physics Mach-2 mount through Chroma 3nm filters and a ZWO ASI6200mm camera.
