Description

I was recently browsing through my image archives and noticed that it had been 8 years since I imaged this beautiful galaxy. So, I decided that it was high time that I give it another go.

M63 is identified as a flocculent galaxy, i.e., a spiral with a conspicuous lack of continuous, well defined spiral arms. Instead, floccuents like M63 have patchy, discontinuous spiral arms, though to be the result of self-propagating bursts of star formation. M63 is located about 29 million years from us, and is part of the M51 Group of galaxies.
