Description

NGC 2336 and IC 467 are two infrequently-imaged galaxies located in the constellation Camelopardalis, about 10 degrees from the North Celestial Pole. While they both lie about 100 million light years from Earth, they do not appear to be interacting with each other. Both of these galaxies are weakly barred. As a result of their different orientations relative to us, only NCG 2336's bar is discernible in images.

NGC 2336 is rich in HII regions. Twenty-eight such regions have been identified. Some of these can be seen in my image as knots in the spiral arms.
