Description

This animation shows the movement of Ceres over the course of about four hours on 2023-04-19, shot in 200 frames of 60s each.

Ceres is a dwarf planet in the asteroid belt, located between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. It has an diameter of 939 km, well under a tenth of the earth's. Discovered was Ceres in 1801 by Giuseppe Piazzi as first asteroid.

At the time of this image, Ceres was at a distance of 1.71 AU to earth, or about 250 billion km.
