Description

The Sunflower Galaxy, also known as Messier 63, M63 or NGC 5055, is a spiral galaxy in the northern constellation of Canes Venatici with approximately 400 billion stars.

M63 is known a flocculent spiral. Unlike grand-design spiral galaxies, flocculent spiral galaxies do not have well defined spiral arms. Instead, they appear to have many discontinuous arms.

This galaxy is located roughly 27 million light-years from Earth in the constellation Canes Venatici.
