Ladies and gentlemen of the night,

here is my first picture of the Veil Nebula (SH2-103, IC1340, NGC6960, NGC6992).in the Swan. It’s done with my usual setup (t least for this year) Canon 6D Astrodon inside, Samyang 135 mm f/d 2 closed at one or 2 steps on EQ6R with autoguiding MgenII. It consists of 173 frames of 90s at 1600 iso on 3 nights. Well mainly 2  ( 3h, 4 min and 75 min) as the 2nd night, something went bad with the timer (power cable? forgot to push on a button?) and I got only 3 frames. The 3rd night, it was the clouds. So all together it’s still 4h 20min.

The optic chain is not optimal for this target that is quite small and not so bright. An Ha layer would certainly bring more contrast. It will be for another year. The initial target for these night was IC405 the witch Nebula but it was too low on the horizon for the beginning of the night so in order to take advantage of absence of cloud, I tried the Veil Nebula.

In order to make it more sexy (I hope), I present a crop. The B version is the full frame for the curious only. It doesn’t bring much value in my opinion.

As usual, I’ve stacked with Sirilic/Siril, processing with Pix and Gimp. I tried to not over process it. Star reduction and separated processing of stars and starless extraction. For the nebula a strong saturation for cyan and blue.

Ami.e.s de la nuit,

voici ma première  image des Dentelles du Cygne (SH2-103, IC1340, NGC6960, NGC6992). Réalisé avec ma config habituelle (du moins pour cette année): Canon 6D Astrodon inside, Samyang 135 mm f/d 2 ferme a 1 ou 2 crans le tout sur une EQ6R avec autoguidage avec Mgen II. Constitue de 173 brutes de 90s a 1600 iso sur 3 nuit. Enfin plutôt 2 (3h, 4 min et 75 min). La 2nd nuit Murphy était en embuscade. Etait-ce le cable d’alimentation de la Mgen ou un oubli pour lancer le séquenceur. En tout cas je n’ai eu que 3 brutes cette nuit la. La 3eme nuit se sont les nuages qui ont été de la partie. Mas bon ça fait quand même 4h20 ce qui est honorable.
Le train optique n’est certe pas optimal pour cette cible assez petite et pas très très brillante. Une couche Ha serait la bien venue. Ça sera pour l’année prochaine au plus tôt. De toute façon, la cible initiales de ces nuits la était IC405 la Nébuleuse du Sorcier mais elle était trop basse sur l’horizon pour mon poste d’observation.

Personnellement, je n’aime pas les champs vides et je présente donc un cadrage resseré. La version B contient le champ entier (sauf un petit crop de nettoyage avant traitement. Uniquement pour les curieux.

Comme d’habitude, empilement avec Sirilic/Siril, traitement Pix et Gimp. J’ai essaye de ne pas trop pousser sur les curseurs. Il y a une réduction d’étoile assez importante. Étoile et fond de ciel traite en non linéaire de façon séparée. Pour les nébuleuse seules, saturation du cyan et du bleu sans retenue aucune.
