Description

Based on our recent wide field image that we posted on Lower's nebula; several other objects were identified.   Here is a complex of strong HII emission nebulae, some 8,000 light-years from Earth in Orion.  I used the C11" @ f/10 to try and get a good close-up with some detail despite the intensely bright moon during this imaging session.  The danger of this is at f/10, you need pristine seeing to get super clarity.  I had descent seeing and excellent guiding, so resolution was good but not ideal.  Also, this image is in Ha only with RGB stars added prior to the moon rising above the horizon.  I tried to get some O3 but to no avail. So, I used the new NB ColourMapper script to get a color I liked (note: not bloody red as I wanted a slight variation in color to help bring out some detail) followed by GHS to permanently stretch the image.  It is a different look than most of the images I have seen on this complex but I am pleased with the result.  Each Sharpless object has its own uniqueness upon close examination and a number of dust lanes can be observed as well.
