Dark Nebulae in Cepheus: LDN 1235, LDN 1251, vdB 152 and more

LDN 1235 or vdB 152 and their friends are well known dark nebulae in northern Cepheus. A pale red-blue spot is visible left of LDN 1217 (lower left area). At first I thought this is an image error but it is a cloud of ionized gas named DeHt5 (PK 111.1+11.1), which is often wrongly called a planetary nebula.

I don't know exactly how many times I've tried to get the processing done. The image was taken from the home balcony in the middle of the city. I was very surprised that there is so much information in it but the processing was difficult because these were the first dark nebulae I photographed and of course the gradients were difficult to remove in this dense field of structures.

The EF autofocus adapter from Astromechanics is a great piece of technology. Focusing is so much easier and works fine in NINA as well as APT. With the adapter you can control the aperture but I stopped down the lens externally with a ring to about f/4.
