Description

The idea: try to overcome light pollution with for LRGB filters high exposure times. Target (first mistake): Pleiades. I chose it since I realized that I actually do not have a good image of them in my gallery (see version C)! But I should have thought more about it, 5 minutes of those super bright stars?? Now that was in aftermath not the wisest of ideas. For the first time I actually saw microlensing with the ASI6200, did not think that this was possible 😊. With the ASI1600, yes, that was almost visible on a "daily" basis, but the 6200? Well, I guess there is a limit for every camera. Hence, this image has several flaws in it, especially when looking closer to the bright stars. On the bright side: the nebula surrounding those stars came out fairly well. If I would have had a bit more time (I spent most of my clear nights on a collaboration project) and if the weather would be better (barely any clear nights for the last weeks) I would have aimed after my processing at it again, this time choosing maybe 1 minute exposures, and replace "the ugly stars" with those images. But well, it is what it is, and in the end I have a better image that I ever had before, and it leaves room for improvement 😊.

Carpe Noctem!
