Description

THE NEBULA IN MONOCRENOS
- NGC 2185
- Deepsky 1665mm LRGB
- Constellation Monocrenos

This pretty nebula has actually undeservedly no sounding name, it is simply called NGC 2185 :-) At least I couldn't find a name when I researched the object ^^
NGC 2185 is the reflection nebula in the center of the image, outside are NGC 2183 and Cederblad 71. It is a cluster of reflection nebulae in the constellation Monoceros, in German, in the unicorn. The object was discovered by Wilhelm Herschel on October 16, 1784.
The bright star in the center of the nebula is estimated to be about 2800 light years away from us.
