Description

This southern hemisphere galaxy is believed to have a very similar structure to our home galaxy, the Milky Way, and how our galaxy might appear to a distant viewer. With one difference though; NGC 6744 is a good bit larger, at 175,000 light years across.

I recently published an image of this galaxy through a shorter length telescope with a wider field of view. Since I already had captured data at a smaller image scale, I wanted to see if I could reveal more detail in the galactic core.  I think the effort was successful, so I'm adding to my gallery.
