Description

Dorothy O'Neal and I along with Ronnie Sherrill went to Alan Banner's to observe the Alpha Monocerotid Meteor Shower last night. We knew it could be a fantastic show or a total bust.

As it turns out the shower ended up somewhere in between. First, we had a great time storytelling and reminiscing. Second, we were only out in the cold for about 2 hours. Third, it was mostly clear. And last, but definitely not least we saw METEORS!!!!!

We counted 9 total Alpha Monocerotid Meteors and 7 sporadics. Of these only 3 sporadics and two Alpha Monocerotid Meteors were big & bright. Most were faint, short trained "screamers."

All told, it was a fun evening of Meteor Watching.

A big shout out to Brad Panovich Meteorologist
