Description

During my last stay in Sardinia I noticed that Venus was casting both shadows and reflections, if my eyes were dark adapted (as I was waay younger then that was rather easier than now). I tried to capture at least some of it with the D50 and the trusty 50mm. Now, normally it takes very still water and the right angle to get a mirrored reflection of stars but in this case, being the sea, the water is always somewhat choppy just after sunset so reflections do not come easy. The entire scene is solely illuminated by the light from Venus thus you can see the shapes of the boats at anchor and the rocky outcrop further ahead. The "star" to the right of Venus is Saturn and the asterism above Venus is Leo (with Regulus just above it).

Best viewed in darkness.
