Description

Okay...finally finished my biggest project. This shot took me several nights of shooting. I shot about 25 hours of data over several nights to stack for this image. I kept about 20.5 hours of that data for stacking, so that makes this my longest integration so far.

One important thing that I love about this image is the framing. For some reason many us astrophotographers seem obsessed with framing entire objects, and I'm certainly guilty too. It even gets to the point where if we can't fit the entire object into one frame, we feel the need to make mosaics to piece together the target. Now I'm not saying it's wrong to frame an entire DSO or piece it together with a mosaic, but there is something beautiful about doing close-ups on some of our favorite DSO's. Getting in close on that nebulosity almost makes it seem like a new object to image.

That's why I'm loving the Starizona SCT Corrector that I recently acquired. It's giving new life to some of the DSO's that I've imaged before.

Clear Skies,
Daniel
