Description

Whoooaa. I was at the "Sternenpark Westhavelland" for a few days with my family. This is one of darkest places in germany and it is only 2 hours by car away from our home. I did not brought my gear with me because the weather forecast said that there would not be the opportunity to take some images. But on monday evening the clouds went away, so i grabbed my Sony DSLR and took about 100 images of Cassiopeia, no darks, no flats, no guiding, no real mount, just my cheap tripod. This is the image you can see. It was taken at about 9 o'clock when the moon was still visible. My SQM told me that the sky brightness was about 20.4.

But the big surprise came at about midnight as the moon dusk. I have never ever seen so much stars and i was nearly blinded by the glow of the milkyway. SQM raised to about 21.2 - and the moon just vanished behind the horizon when i measured! Amazing! I did not take more images because i simply was stunned by the view. It is absolutely clear that i will come back with my whole gear. That will be a party then :-)
