Description

I noticed a flare in AR 3176 while imaging the Sun on Friday, Dec 30, 2022.  I was not fortunate enough to catch the start but caught the tail end of the flare.  As I was imaging, I received an alert from Spaceweather.com of a Moderate M3.74 flare at 1954 UTC.  Equipment was a Lunt LS80 THa (single stack), TeleVue PowerMate 2.5x and ASI174MM camera.   My animation runs from 1935 - 2001 UTC.  According to Spaceweather.com this flare hurled a CME toward Earth.  Expected arrival is Jan 4, 2023.

I stopped the capture as I was getting horizontal bands ranging from thin lines to relatively thick bands.  This behavior has just started the last few times imaging using FireCapture.  The initial videos are fine but after a bit, the horizontal banding starts and becomes more and more prevalent as time goes on.  I used the Row Noise Correction feature in AutoStakkert!3 while stacking but that didn't completely solve the problem as can be seen by flickering along the bottom of the last few frames of the animation.  Interestingly, I can switch to SharpCap and the banding stops.
