Description

This is a follow-up image to my Mt Warning conjunction photo that has gone viral on facebook, (particularly in the Astrology community ! )

This was taken the next night and shows Venus, the Lagoon Nebula, Jupiter (and moons) and the 1.8% new moon as seen from Mt Tamborine in the hinterland of the Gold Coast, Australia.

With cloud rapidly setting in I only had a few minutes to set up, do a rough polar alignment, and get my photos. (the sky is tracked and ground untracked)

These two images are the only nightscape style ones I have seen on any astrophotography forums of the recent planetary alignment that clearly show the nebula as well (though if anyone can show me others I'k like to be proven wrong).

It will be another 24 years before such an alignment occurs again.
