Description

IC 443, also known as the Jellyfish Nebula (Sh2-248), is a galactic supernova remnant (SNR) located in the constellation Gemini, approximately 5,000 light-years from Earth. It is the remnant of a supernova that occurred between 3,000 and 30,000 years ago. It is one of the most studied cases of supernova remnants interacting with surrounding molecular clouds. Its shape resembles a jellyfish swimming in the sea of stars.
