M76, the Little Dumbbell Planetary Nebula, HOO, SHO and RGB.

M76, the Little Dumbbell Planetary Nebula RGB was used for annotation and captured during about 1h 20 min. Main images are HOO and SHO and have combined SNR of about 1.3.
Panel A: HOO
Panel B: SHO
Panel C: RGB annotation

Processing:
R, G, B, Ha, Oiii and Sii were cropped.
GraXpert beta version was used to remove background.
RGB are combined.
DBE again for RGB.
Color Colib for RGB
Blur and Noise XT for Ha, O3, S2 and RGB
Star XT for RGB. RGB stars were kept.
Manual stretching (with HT) for Ha, O3, S2, RGB (no stars), and RGB-stars (two different stretching: dimmer and brighter stars).

1. Processing (panels C)
RGB no stars were masked by Lum.
Local Histogram Equalization: Kernel radius of 40 and 150
Multiscale-median transform for sharpness; strong 0.4-0.5 setting.
Curves: saturation and brightness were manipulated
Mask off.
Added saturated RGB stars (brighter star version).

Combined SHO as R-G-B
Star XT for both

Stretched again for both.
Lum for SHO was used as mask for HOO and SHO.
Curves: played with Hue-Saturation until final image was achieved for HOO and SHO versions.
HDRMultiTransform for both, HOO and SHO, setting 7 layers, 1 iteration, and 0.18 overdrive.
Local Histogram Equalization: Kernel radius of 40 and 150 for both.
Multiscale-median transform for sharpness for both; medium 0.3-0.4 setting.
Curves again: saturation, hue and brightness were manipulated for both Panels
Mask off.
Added RGB stars (dimmer stars).

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
