Description

Guiding was smooth thanks to the fully opened Sammy 135mm prime lens serving as guide scope.

Even if you don't see them with bare eyes they are there lurking between the thicker clouds which ended the show after 33 frames, though 3 hours planned, but all good, none discarded. The PHD2 preview (rev B: as evidence for my innocence) clearly shows thin clouds crossing. This is not the proper filter to be used for a faint nebulae such as the Cave Nebula, Caldwell 9, in Cepheus. So all I got is the core which resembles a Klingon battleship. 120 seconds per exposure were fine but more frames are needed to cancel out noise by stacking.

Cepheus is a dangerous treasure trap for imaging fun, full of fine nebulae and HII regions, all a bit faint but amazing if you can cheat enough time for integration.

For the first time I got a "SharpCap 4.1 Pro is out of memory" error, suggesting to switch to the 64-bit version. So I did and all went well, hmmm.

From tomorrow I will undergo a minor surgery in a hospital without observatory. Old man's hernia. Hope to be back in a few days even if the nurses are sweet.
