Description

The M81 Galaxy Group, also known as the M81 Group, is a group of galaxies located in the constellation Ursa Major. The group is named after its brightest member, the spiral galaxy Messier 81 (M81). The M81 Group is part of the larger Virgo Supercluster, which includes our own Milky Way galaxy.

This group of galaxies is seen in this image through the glow of an Integrated Flux Nebula (IFN), a vast and complex screen of diffuse gas and dust also in our Milky Way Galaxy.

This image has been acquired from my backyard observatory with the use of a color camera and a fast newtonian telescope.

The full image covers an area of 3º09' x 2º19' at a resolution of 2.13"/pixel.
