Description

NGC 4725 is a rather unusual spiral galaxy, as it appears to have only a single spiral arm. Most spiral galaxies have at least 2 arms, whereas the single arm can clearly be seen and traced around 4725, appearing almost ring-like. The galaxy can be found in Coma Berenices, the neighbouring galaxy is ngc 4712. Distance to ngc 4725 is around 40 MLy.

Image acquired in Astroart 3, processed in PixInsight, noise reduction in NEAT. 30 X 3 minute subs. - no filtration. Seeing reasonable, transparency fair. 10" Newtonian reflector f4.8.
