Description

NGC 2419 is the most distant globular cluster that is known to be associated with our galaxy.

It is about 0.25MLy from us and that may just have put it beyond the grip of our Galaxy and for that reason it is often known as the 'Inter-Galactic Wanderer'.

The cluster is mag. 10.4 and the apparent size is 4', the brightest stars are around 17th mag. You can find it in the constellation of Lynx.

I took this image during an extremely rare night of good seeing in December and managed to gather around 30 x 3 minute subs.
