Description

Final image from Sunday night’s session, and once again an experiment in seeing what was possible with just a camera on a tripod and no tracking mount.

A widefield Cassiopeia and Perseus view shot with the X-A3 and Nikkor 24mm f2.8 AIS wide open. The red sensitivity of the Fuji camera again does a good job of picking up various H-alpha regions including the Pac-Man Nebula to the right of α-Cassiopeiae, as well as the Heart and Soul Nebulae just below right of the image centre.

Similar technique and workflow as previous shots. 100 exposures of 15 seconds each at 1600 ISO, stacked in APP, followed by light pollution reduction and star colour correction. Binning, contrast and colour enhancement in StarTools, further cosmetic adjustments in PS 2015, and a final tweak in Apple’s Photos app to get the colour balance right.

Star colours seem better than the other shots, and it hasn’t suffered as much from distortion in the corners, which I presume is an artefact of the stacking process.
