Description

The Flame Nebula, designated as NGC 2024 and Sh2-277, is an emission nebula in the constellation Orion. It is about 1350 light-years away[1]. At that distance, the Flame Nebula lies within the Orion B cloud of the larger Orion Molecular Cloud Complex.

We've had a lot of high level cloud lately that's stopped me doing observations, so this is a reprocessing of some old data I had. I'm trying to get more colour out of my OSC RGB images which are usually much more red than this.

I'm pretty happy with the results on the flame.
