Description

This is an image of Abell 33, the Diamond Ring Nebula, also known as PK 238+34.1,  discovered by George Abell in 1955.   Abell 33 is a planetary nebula located 2700 light years away in the constellation of Hydra. It lies just behind the star HD 83535 which is responsible for the "diamond ring" effect seen in the image.

The total of 26 hrs of LRGBHaOIII  data in this image were collected by DeepSKyWest at Rio Hurtado, Chile, in Feb-March 2023.

Software: PixInsight 1.8.9-1, Postscript CS6, BlurXTerminator, NoiseXTerminator, StarXTerminator and GeneralizedHyperbolicStretch
