Description

The squid nebula has always been for me a very fascinating object. Catching that from my bortle 8 sky a way to see the limit of my instruments and my processing skils. In the summer of 2021 I have tried to image that with a camera lens and an Asi 533, combined with an Optolong L-Extreme filter for a total of 130 hours of exposures:

results didn't absolutely meet my expectation. Surrounding nebula was visible but there was no way to see th Squid. So I decided to use a more powerful weapon. The 250 F 3.9 Newton combined with a QHY183 mono camera and a Baader 7.5 nm O3 filter. I imaged with that traing for a total of 1740 minutes of exposures in 5 nights of July 2021. Each exposure was of 60 seconds and was unguided.
Even this time results didn't meet my expectation. Subject is more visibile than in the 130 hours image, but still almost impossible to see. Moreover as field of view is much narrow, only the central part of the nebula is visible. Aquisition with Astroart 7. Processing with Astroart 8 (very small processing - Gradient removal, deconvultion and DDP).

Thanks for looking.
