Description

Approximately 15 light-years away, and 5 light years wide, the Flaming Star nebula is a fabulous reflection and emission nebula in Auriga.   The star that is lighting up the nebula is the irregular variable star AE Aurigae.     In this view, I've cropped out some of the extended nebula to highlight the center portion which exhibits the best structural details.
