Description

This is my personal version of NGC 1999 "The Cosmic Key Hole", the DSO that ShaRA team chose as target #6 since the project started in October 2022.More info about this project here: https://astrotrex.wordpress.com/2023/12/01/shara6-closed-ngc1999-the-cosmic-key-hole/

NGC 1999 is a beautiful reflection nebula located in the constellation of Orion. It is illuminated by a bright and recent formed star cataloged as V380 (3.5 solar masses). The star is so young that it is still surrounded by a cloud of material left over from its formation, here seen as the NGC 1999 reflection nebula.

Surprisingly, the "keyhole" at the center of the nebula is supposed to be actually "empty".
