Description

Here's another version of M20 Trifid Nebula but this time captured from my  NexDome Obs under Bortle 3/4 Skies ( Last night ) using my 10" f5 Newt

Location : South Coast NSW ,Australia
NexDome Obs
Sky : Bortle 3/4
Conditions : Poor seeing and transparency
Telescope : 10" f5 Klaus Helmerich carbon fibre Newtonian
Mount : Skywatcher EQ8-R Pro
Imaging Camera : ZWO2600MC cooled to -10C , Gain 101
No Filter : just internal UV/IR Cut window
Guide Scope : Orion 60mm with helical focuser
Guide Camera : ZWO290MM
Tracking and Goto : EQMOD and Ascom Stellarium
Capture Software : APT
Guiding PHD2 Multistar guiding ( 0.75 to 1.00 arc sec total ) guiding was unstable last night , chasing the seeing
138 x 60 sec subs , dithered every second sub
40 x Flats
60 x Bias
Stacked in Deep Sky Stacker
Processed in Startools V1.8  OSC Linear Data Set

Compared to my recent M20 Trifid captured under Bortle 7/8 Sydney skies with the 8" Newt , this image had almost no noise at all , in fact I could have skipped noise reduction it was that clean. Also only just over 2 hours of data under Bortle 3/4 skies but in poor seeing conditions resulted in more detail using the bigger 10" Newt.
Obviously if conditions were better stars would be considerably tighter
Extremely pleased with the results with minimal data. Really enjoying the bigger 10' Newt
