Description

The James Webb Space Telescope is now in its permanent orbit around Earth's L2 point and is a little less than one million miles from home. It is still visible from Earth, though, as a 16th magnitude spec. This is a one hour video (uploaded as an animated GIF) consisting of sixty separate one minute exposures. Ephemerides were from NASA's Horizons system:

The images were captured at around 8:00pm US Mountain time on the evening of 2/8/2022 while Webb was located in Canis Minor.
