Description

Near the eastern shore of Mare Nubium is the easy-to-locate Rupes Recta ("The Straight Wall"), which is a prime example of surface uplifting that results from a lunar thrust fault, or more likely it was created by subsidence of the mare surface west of the fault. This interesting feature cuts an escarpment that runs north to south for about 115.95 km across the center of the lava flow that filled an unnamed rectangular-shaped crater that forms a portion of the eastern shoreline of Mare Nubium. The eastern side of the rupes is raised about 200 to 450 meters. The crater on the left is Thebit crater (58x35km).
