Description

he Horsehead Nebula in Orion is such an iconic region. Located approximately 1,500 light-years from Earth, the Horsehead Nebula is a stunning example showcasing the 3 types of nebulae we know about in the Universe. Dark nebulae (dark clouds of molecular gas and dust making up the Horsehead itself), reflection nebulae (blue starlight reflecting off clouds of gas and dust), and emission nebulae (Hydrogen gas excited by neighboring starlight seen as reddish tones).
