Description

New Discovery!
This is a fairly small and, to the best of my knowledge, undocumented reflection nebula centered around the star TYC 4268-623-1.

General Information
This nebula is located in the constellation Cepheus. The brightest commonly known nebula is McDonald 30 (SH 2-140). The illuminating star, according to Gaia, is located almost 3,000 light years away from us! Obviously, the distance to the reflection nebula itself is unknown. There are several fairly faint reflection nebulae present in the region, but all the brighter ones were already documented.

Location
The coordinates to locate the illuminating star are (RA, DEC):
22 h 25 m 35 s,  +62 d 30 m 41 s

Structure
Illuminated dust seems to be centered around the main star. Possibly, and this is just a guess, it might have a similar structure to NGC 7023 (The Iris Nebula), where the illuminating star is located within the dust. From our point of view, we just see the portion of nebulosity through the "window" of sorts. The brightest part of the nebulosity is approximately 2 arcminutes. This measurement is very rough.

Because my equipment for astrophotography, as well as my skills, are modest, I tried to work with what I had and used sketching to document my findings. I used different levels of stretching to reveal as many details as possible in both the inner nebulosity and outer regions. The sketch intentionally heavily enhances the contrast of the found details. The positions of the stars are not precise.

P. S. Of course, all sketches are subjective, and mine definitely bears no scientific value. However, I thought it would be fun and interesting to include it, since the process of revealing the nebulosity was quite rigorous!

Thank you for looking and have a nice day!
