Description

This image was taken over several nights during October 2023 with an ASI2600mm Pro through an Explore Scientific 127ED on an EQ6-R Pro mount.

The image comprises:

SII:     63    x   180s
Ha:     47   x    180s
OIII:    60   x    180s
R:        10   x    180s
G:        10   x    180s
B:        10   x    180s

Total integration time was ten hours.  The image was processed in Pixinsight and tweaked in Photoshop.

About 12,000 light years away, the Tadpole Nebula spans roughly 100 light years with the famed “tadpoles” each stretching about 10 lights years. The entire region is filled with ionized hydrogen that has been twisted and shaped by stellar winds from the open star cluster NGC 1893 seen near the center of the image.
