Description

SN 2023 ixf

The supernova SN 2023ixf was first spotted on May 19, 2023, by Japanese amateur astronomer Koichi Itagaki.

The Pinwheel Galaxy is a face-on spiral galaxy 21 million light years from Earth in the constellation Ursa Major.

It is one of the closest galaxies to Earth, home to more than a trillion stars, and is about twice the size of the Milky Way Galaxy.
