Description

IC 443 (also known as the Jellyfish Nebula and Sharpless 248 (Sh2-248)) is a galactic supernova remnant in the constellation Gemini on the ecliptic. Nearby is the star Eta Geminorum. The distance is approximately 5,000 light years from Earth. The object was discovered on September 25, 1892 by the German astronomer Max Wolf.
